VIOLANTA is breaking new ground—not just in making great biscuits, but in protecting the environment too. In Larissa, the company has created the world’s first biscuit factory without chimneys. Thanks to its unique “VIOLANTA Steam Free” technology, the factory has removed all chimneys used for releasing steam and hot gases, using instead a system of geothermal water exchangers.

This is the first time such technology has been used in the biscuit industry. After years of planning and teamwork with engineers and company staff, VIOLANTA developed and patented a new production method that sets the stage for a more sustainable future.

The €4.2 million investment is located in Larissa and is expected to be fully completed by mid-June. Trial production has already started with excellent results. Once running at full capacity, the factory will produce 2,500 tons of biscuits per year, including:

This new, 100% Greek innovation is expected to inspire a new wave of eco-friendly baking technology worldwide.

The key to this achievement is a fully electric tunnel oven powered by renewable energy, like solar panels. This means no fuel is burned, and no harmful gases are released. To handle steam and hot air, the factory uses geothermal exchangers that cool and turn steam into water—removing the need for steam chimneys entirely. This not only cuts CO₂ emissions, but also provides free hot water for the factory’s needs.

VIOLANTA'S green approach makes it a leader in sustainable manufacturing. By switching to renewable energy and cutting out direct CO₂ emissions, the company has also lowered its energy costs—proving that sustainability and efficiency can go hand in hand.
